Verschwörungstheorien zersetzen die Demokratie, sind brandgefährlich und wer an eine glaubt, der glaubt an viele. Und dann erzählt Christian Alt plötzlich von superschnellen »Tic Tac«-Ufos, dem interstellaren Objekt Oumuamua und Barack Obama, der einräumt, dass es Flugobjekte gibt, die die Amerikaner nicht zuordnen können. Und selbst Christian Schiffer muss zugeben: Irgendwas passiert da gerade. Das amerikanische Pentagon berichtet im Juni 2021 und im Mai 2022: Wir sehen jeden Tag Ufos und wissen einfach nicht, woher sie kommen. Während Christian Alt schwärmt, ist Christian Schiffer skeptisch. Die beiden Autoren recherchieren und rollen die Geschichte der Ufo-Sichtungen von vorne auf, diskutieren Theorien, sprechen mit Expert*innen und richten den Blick nicht nur gen Himmel, sondern immer wieder auch auf uns Menschen: Was sagt es eigentlich über uns aus, dass wir bei jedem x-beliebigen Flugobjekt sofort an Aliens denken? Brauchen wir den Glauben an Aliens, um der scheinbaren Alternativlosigkeit des Spätkapitalismus zu entfliehen? Und was hat es mit der eskapistischen Weltraumflucht der Superreichen von Elon Musk und Co. auf sich, ist Zuckerbergs Metaverse nicht auch einfach ein digitales All?
Die Autoren
Christian Schiffer, Jahrgang 1979, Politologe, kam 2008 zum Szenemagazin Zündfunk des Bayerischen Rundfunks und leitet heute die Netzwelt bei BR24. Schiffer wurde mit zahlreichen Medienpreisen ausgezeichnet.
Christian Alt, Jahrgang 1988, ist Journalist, Autor und einer der Gründer der Podcast-Produktionsfirma Kugel und Niere. Seit 2014 arbeitet er in erster Linie als Hörfunk- und Podcast-Autor.
