IW: Kartoffelsalat-Index – Weihnachtsessen kostet 4,7 Prozent mehr
Die Inflation lässt die Preise für das traditionelle Weihnachtsessen – Kartoffelsalat mit Würstchen – steigen. Besonders teuer ist das Festmahl in diesem Jahr in zwei rheinland-pfälzischen Landkreisen, zeigen neue Berechnungen des Instituts der deutschen Wirtschaft (IW).

Zwar ist die Inflation seit Jahresbeginn wieder etwas zurückgegangen, doch für den traditionellen Kartoffelsalat mit Würstchen müssen die Deutschen an der Supermarktkasse tief in die Taschen greifen. Neue IW-Berechnungen zeigen, dass das beliebte Weihnachtsessen für vier Personen im Schnitt 6,97 Euro kostet – das sind 4,7 Prozent mehr als im vergangenen Jahr. Die Berechnungen basieren auf Preisdaten des Lebensmitteleinzelhändlers Rewe.
In Gera und Weimar ist es am günstigsten
Am teuersten ist das traditionelle Weihnachtsessen im Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis in Rheinland-Pfalz. Hier zahlt man für vier Personen 7,80 Euro. Und auch im benachbarten Landkreis Cochem-Zell muss man sich an der Supermarktkasse auf vergleichsweise hohe Preise einstellen, das Gericht kostet hier mit 7,75 Euro nur fünf Cent weniger. Besonders günstig hingegen kommen Kartoffelsalat-Liebhaber in Thüringen davon: Sowohl in Gera als auch in Weimar kosten die gleichen Zutaten lediglich 6,62 Euro für vier Personen. Schon in den vergangenen Auswertungen des Kartoffelsalat-Indices wurde deutlich: Das Weihnachtsessen ist in Ostdeutschland aufgrund von niedrigeren Löhnen und geringeren Kosten günstiger als in Westdeutschland.
Essig-Öl nach wie vor Preissieger
Während der Kartoffelsalat auf Mayonnaise-Basis im Vergleich zur vergangenen Weihnacht nur um 4,7 Prozent teurer geworden ist, sind die November-Preise für Nahrungsmittel insgesamt um rund 5,5 Prozent gestiegen. „Der traditionelle Kartoffelsalat mit Würstchen ist in der Mayo-Variante in diesem Jahr knapp Inflations-Gewinner“, sagt IW-Kaufkraftexperte Christoph Schröder. Nur in Süddeutschland gelte das nicht unbedingt. Der Grund: Anstellte der Mayonnaise wird dort häufig mit Essig und Öl gekocht. Diese Variante des Weihnachtsklassikers kostet im Supermarkt rund zehn Prozent mehr, allein Essig ist laut November-Daten des Statistischen Bundesamtes um knapp zwölf Prozent im Preis gestiegen. Und dennoch: Absolut gesehen bleibt der Salat mit Essig und Öl mit durchschnittlich 6,19 Euro Preissieger.
