The federal association Initiative 50Plus Europe tests products and services and makes consumer recommendations.
The demands and reality of the product world have changed significantly due to demographic developments. Younger marketing and design developers are often unable to meet the wishes and needs of the new “Middle Ages 50Plus” because they are not appropriately sensitized to them. Countless examples from all product worlds, packaging and user guidance make this clear. The natural physical limitations of the 50+ target group are usually not taken into account.
With the consumer recommendation, we give customers over 50 an orientation as to where they can find good products and comprehensive service. We motivate companies to focus more on the specific needs of customers over 50. Companies that act as role models can also make this known to the public with our support.
The consumer recommendation is based on a list of criteria that was developed in collaboration with knowledgeable experts (consumer recommendation questionnaire). The issuance of the consumer recommendation is preceded by a thorough examination of the list of criteria.
If the test is successful, we award the award for one year. Annual repeat tests ensure continuous quality development. In addition, compliance with the criteria can also be checked through covert “test purchases”.
